Thanks to Bill, Ivan, Sophie, Spencer, Paige and the Pizza Patio for hosting our video shoot! There are still a few scenes that need to be shot but we got a lot of progress done.
Wasn't I There? is the first song of my Covid writing period. It is an instrumental influenced by the excitement that always ensues in the beginning of studio time. I reached for a highly rhythmic and layered track that has a bit of a sonic haze... one instrument giving way to another. In retrospect the song has come to stand for a crisis of identity. The bass, keyboard, guitar and flute share a common movement through the groove as if they wish to agree but are separate. The video will reminisce on isolation and community; the highs and lows of interaction, the highs and lows of introspection.
